Gratitude Dinner
An Meditative Immersive Experience
by Voyo Woo & Matthew Yacavone

It is an immersive, participatory artwork that invites ten strangers to gather at a shared table. Each participant wears an EEG headband and focuses on gratitude or positive wishes for the person seated across from them. Their brainwaves are translated into rippling water patterns through cymatic technology, displayed in petri dishes set on LED-lit plates. After two minutes of visualization, participants exchange dishes and drink the purified water—symbolically sharing gratitude and intention.
The dinner unfolds within a large-scale, hand-cut paper installation that resembles a domestic dining room, complete with a fireplace, curtained windows, chandelier, cabinet, and family portraits. This intimate setting transforms the act of dining into a meditation on kinship, asking: what defines family today? Even among strangers, the work suggests we are part of one extended human family, and that gratitude and love have the power to inspire connection, healing, and even peace.
